The Assistant Facilities & Grounds Manager ensures the grounds and buildings at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (CSBP), as well as other Capilano Group properties, are maintained at the highest level while being cost effective, efficient and safe. They help manage and report on daily activities of the department including all maintenance & repair, custodial, grounds/landscaping and projects. The position must possess significant problem-solving skills and show initiative in safety and custodial standards, as well as preventative maintenance programs.

Team development through coaching, regular check-ins, assignment of priorities and tasks is critical to the department’s success. Through their leadership and motivation, the Assistant Manager will help the Facilities & Grounds team create experiences that our guests are amazed by.


  • Ensure park safety is managed with highest priority by completion and actioning on daily, weekly and monthly attraction safety and other reports,
  • Ensure CSBP presentation is maintained at a high caliber by managing the landscaping, custodial & park appearance and repair & maintenance needs,
  • Assist the Facilities & Grounds Manager and the supervisory team with recruitment, orientation and performance management of all Facilities & Grounds team members,
  • Implement regular and ongoing training and coaching plans for department team member’s
  • Maintain all Capilano grounds and buildings to a standard of safety as outlined by ownership, policies & procedures, government regulations (ie. WorkSafeBC),
  • Be alert to hazards and immediately report hazards, defective equipment or concerns,



  • Post-secondary education credential preferred
  • 3-5 years’ supervisory experience working in a Parks and or Facilities operation, with project management experience,
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems or another discipline related to Parks and Facilities maintenance, as well as knowledge of general hand tools & power tools (carpentry, mechanical and janitorial)
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification or higher, or commitment to get certification,
  • Experience coordinating a variety of activities, meeting deadlines, working independently, and making decisions, and initiating actions,
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written,
  • Strong computer literacy and IT ability to manage departmental information, and adaptable with new internal software and systems,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of team members, senior management and external vendors,
  • Strong negotiating skills and collaborative management style,
  • Strong guest service orientation and a focus on action and results.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business,
  • While performing the duties of this position, team members are required to be on their feet for extended periods of time,
  • While performing the duties of this position, required to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, rain and winter conditions,
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 100lbs, and
  • Occasionally required to lift and climb a ladder and not be averse to heights,
  • Possibility of working at other Capilano Group Locations.
